Maarkandam Soup, Mutton Nenju Elumbu Soup Recipe – Mutton rib bones soup. Very lite flavourful broth. Excellent remedy for cold and flu.

Prep Time : 5 mins Cooking time : 30 mins
Serves : 3-4 Cuisine : Tamilnadu

Ingredients :
Mutton Rib bones : 250 gms
Shallot : 4-5 chopped
Tomato : 2 medium sized chopped
Ginger garlic crushed : 1 tsp
Red chilly powder : 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder : 1 tsp
Coriander Powder : 1 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp
Rice rinsed water : 2 cups
gingelly oil : 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Fennel seeds/Saunf : 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing

Method :
1. Wash mutton rib bones with clean water for 2-3 times.
2. Heat pressure cooker, crack fennel seeds. Saute onion, ginger garlic crushed.
3. Then add tomato, cook to mushy. Now add mutton bone rib, saute for 1 min.
4. Add in spice powders along with salt. Add rice rinsed water, mix well.
5. Cover cooker with lid. Pressure cook for 20 mins.
^. Open once air released naturally, garnish with coriander leaves and serve warm.

  1. Heat pressure cooker with oil, crack fennel seeds. Saute onion, ginger garlic crushed. Then cook tomato to mushy. Add in mutton rib bone, saute for a min.

2. add in spice powders along with salt, mix well. Add in rice rinsed water too.

3. Pressure cook for 15-20 mins on medium heat. Open once air released naturally. Garnish with coriander leaves.

serve warm
