Oats Porridge serves as a healthy meal for babies. It can be paired with any fruit puree or simply with honey and milk. But for fussy eaters, sweet versions of oats porridge can be boring. For such kids, oats can be flavored with any mild spice and served as a tasty savory dish, like today’s recipe – Savory Oats Porridge for Babies.

Vegetable Oats Porridge is an easy, quick, one pot savory porridge for babies and toddlers made with a pressure cooker. It is effortless to make, only chopping the veggies takes time, and if that’s ready, this porridge can be done in a jiffy. Oats Vegetable porridge – A quick comforting made with oats and vegetables. Nutritious food for babies and kids.

Prep Time : 10 mins Cooking Time : 10 mins
Serves : 2 Cuisine : Indian


Ingredients:
Oats : 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds/Cumin powder : 1/8 tsp
Garlic : 1-2 small cloves
Vegetables* : ¾ cup chopped
Water : 1.5 cups
Formula Milk/Cows Milk/Coconut Milk : ¼ cup (optional)
Salt : as required
Ghee : 1 Tsp
* I used ¾ cup of chopped carrots, potato, and green peas. You can as you prefer.

Method :
1. Wash and chop vegetable into a bite size, set aside. Heat pressure cooker, dry roast oats till the nice aroma comes.
2. Then add in chopped vegetables, cumin seeds, garlic and 1.5 cups of water. Mix well
3. Cover cooker with lid. Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles. Turn off heat.
4. Once pressure released naturally, mash oats and veggies with masher.
5. You can also blend the porridge using a blender/mixer instead of mashing it.
6.If the porridge is too thick add prepared formula milk or coconut milk or boiled cows milk. Don’t use cows milk for babies below one year cook it for 2-3 mins.
7. Mix well and serve the oats vegetable porridge warm!
