Simple Mooli/Muli paratha/Radish paratha/Mullangi Paratha Recipe

Muli Paratha (Radish Paratha) is a deliciously healthy, easy to prepare, Indian bread and best alternative of plain chapati or roti. Its preparation closely resembles to plain paratha but its magic lies in dough prepared from wheat flour, shredded radish (muli) and Indian spices. It is a perfect dish for growing kids as there is no other better way than this to provide goodness of radish to kids. This easy recipe prepares simple paratha with muli without stuffing.

Today’s share is a simple, light, and delicious Indian flat bread with this humble root veggie that packs some finger licking flavours. Steaming hot Mooli Parathas can be prepared as stuffed paratha or without stuffing by incorporating shredded radish while kneading dough. This makes life so easy especially if you are a beginner.  You can also incorporate other grated vegetables like beetroot, cabbage, zucchini, carrots, capsicum, cauliflower etc. or just make a plain paratha to go with any curry. 

This simple, quick and exotic flavored paratha can be prepared in no time on busy mornings for breakfast or for a meal and can be accompanied with plain curd/ yogurt or even pickle. Muli Paratha (Radish Paratha) is a deliciously healthy, easy to prepare, Indian bread and best alternative of plain chapati or roti.

Prep Time : 10 mins Cooking Time : 25 mins
Serves : 10 paratha Cuisine : Indian


Ingredients :
Wheat flour/Atta : 2 cups
Grated Radish : 1&1/3 cups
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp
Red chilly powder : 1 tsp
Cumin powder : 1 tsp
Coriander powder : 1 tsp
Garam masala powder : 2 tsp
Coriander leaves : 1 tbsp chopped
Ajwain/omam : 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil/ghee as needed

Method :
1. Peel and grate the radish in a grater and mix little salt with it, keep aside for 10 mins.
2. You will be able to squeeze out a whole lot of water from this grated radish, do not discard this water, save it. Mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl, use the squeezed out water to make dough instead of water.
3. You may not need all the water as radish itself is moist, so carefully add water. Make equal sized balls out of it.
4. Roll out to thick parathas. Not too thick, just with 2 chapathi’s thickness. Dust generously with flour while rolling out.
5. Heat tawa and cook on both sides drizzling some oil or ghee each side, until golden brown spots appears.
6. Healthy and tasty parathas goes well with simply pickle and curd, you wont even know it has radish. I love it hot.

  • Important : Make parathas as soon as you prepare the dough. If you keep the dough for a while, it will leave water and becomes sticky and it will be difficult to roll.
