Poondu Paal/Garlic milk for cold and cough and its benefits

Many years ago many different kinds of fruits, vegetables, and culinary spices were used to help with a variety of health complaints without the need for any other treatment. One such medicated drink, good for overall well-being, is the preparation of garlic milk, made with the goodness of garlic mixed in warm nourishing milk.

Along with garlic, i added turmeric, pepper powder and palm sugar. If you want can add only garlic to this milk and honey too. But turmeric, pepper and palm sugar also other healthy ingredients to make this garlic milk more healthy and tasty too.

Let see Health Benefits of Garlic milk/Poondu Paal:

1. Cough

Garlic together with turmeric is a great remedy for persistent cough. You can make garlic turmeric milk for treating this condition. The antibacterial properties of garlic make it an excellent remedy for cough. A mixture of honey and garlic makes an excellent expectorant to provide relief from cough.

2. Asthma

You can use only three cloves of garlic every night for excellent results in combating asthma.

3. Tuberculosis of Lung

Garlic is highly effective in certain diseases of the chest. Mycobacterium tuberculosis is receptive to numerous sulphur components present in garlic.

4. Pneumonia

Garlic milk decoction taken thrice a day is also an effective remedy for pneumonia.

5. Cholesterol

If you drink warm garlic milk for over a week it will help you reduce the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol known as “bad” cholesterols thereby increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the good cholesterols in the body.

6. Cardiac problems

Mix skimmed or low fat milk with the garlic cloves to relieve cardiac disorders. It can prevent the formation of clots and enhance circulatory health.

7. Digestive health

Garlic is an effective antiseptic and immune booster. It is one of the foods beneficial for the digestive health. It also has an important effect on the lymph, facilitating removal of lethal waste matter in the body.

Poondu Paal / Garlic Milk for cold and cough and its benefits



Prep Time : 2mins Cooking time : 10 mins
Serves : 2


Ingredients:
Milk/paal : 250 ml
Garlic : 3 nos
Pepper powder : 1 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp
Palm sugar/Honey : 1.5 tsp

Method:
1. Peel the garlic and grind the cloves. You can do this with a mortar or something similar. If you prefer, you can chop them into thin slices.
2. Then, add the garlic to the milk. Then put the milk over medium low heat till garlic cook to soft.
3. Then add in pepper, turmeric powder and palm sugar, mix well. allow it to boil for 1 more min.
4. Strain and serve hot.
