Thayir vadai | Dahi Vada |Curd vadai recipe is made at most of the homes with leftover Vadais, but my mom always makes Thayir vadai with freshly made Vadais as we all love curd vadais. Today I am sharing the recipe of how to make South Indian style curd vadai.

But here, i have made with left over Medu vadai because my hubby like curd vadai with onions. Most of people will made vadai without onions. This is very simple, tasty curd vadai. Make sure curd should be thick and unsour one. That makes it more tasty and appetizing. I always wanted to make it at home for so many days and yesterday was the day and i made it. I hope you will try this out and let me know how it turned out for you.

Prep Time : 2 hours       Cooking Time : 20 mins

Serves : 3-4

Ingredients:

 Medu vadai/Ulundu Vadai 10 -12 

For Curd Mixture:

Thick Unsour Curd : 2 cups

Carrot : 1 small grated

Green Chilly : 1 finely chopped

Coriander leaves / Cilantro : 3 tbsp finely chopped

Salt to taste

Sugar : 1/2 tsp

For Tempering:

Oil : 1 tbsp

Mustard Seeds/Kaduku : 1 tsp

Urad dal/Ulundu Paruppu : 1 tsp

Dry Red chilly : 2

Curry leaves : a spring

Method:

  • Make vadai. Click Medu vadai/Ulundu Vadai  to check how to make vadai.

  • Now a curd in a bowl, add in sugar and salt. Beat it well.

  • Now temper it with tempering ingredients under for tempering list.

  • Pour this over the curd mixture and mix well.

  • Now lets assemble the vadais in tray. pour the curd mixture over it.

  • Leave them to soak for 30 mins.

  • Serve them with grated carrots on top.

Methods With pictorials :

  1. Make a vadai batter. Mix it with chopped onion, green chilly, coriander leaves, and ginger. Make a small balls. Spread oil in a ziplock cover, press it lightly. Make a hole in a middle. Fry them in a hot oil. Drain it in a kitchen towel, set a side.

2. Now take a unsour curd in a bowl. Beat it well.IMG_20171111_1438063. Heat oil. Temper it with tempering ingredients. Mix it with curd.

4. Arrange a fried vadas in a tray or in bowl. Pour this curd mixture in this.

5. Soak it for 30 mins to 1 hour. Serve it with grated carrot, chopped coriander leaves. If you like you can add kara boondi also. Enjoy….
