A spicy and flavourful chutney for idli dosa, made with onion, tomato, mint, coriander, red chillies and coconut as main ingredients. I always look for different chutney recipes, be is a small variation, I would like to try it out. So when I asked my MIL, for a chutney recipe, she told this.  So here i like to share it with you all. We had it with rava idly, taste was awesome.

Prep Time : 10 mins       Cooking : 10 mins

Serves : 4

Ingredients:

Onion : 1

Tomato : 2 large

Channa dal : 1 tbsp

Mint & Coriander leaves : 1/2 cup

Red chilly : 2 -3

Tamarind : a small gooseberry size

Grated Coconut : 2 tbsp

Oil : 2 tsp

To Temper :

Oil : 2 tsp

Mustard seed : 1/2 tsp

Urad dal : 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves : one spring

Method:

  1. In a kadai, add 2 tsp of oil and roast red chilli, channa dal until channa dal turns golden.
  2. Then add in cubed onion, tomato and tamarind. Cook it until soft. Now add mint and coriander leaves. Just fry until the leaves shrink.
  3. Then add in grated coconut and salt. Turn off the heat. Allow it cool down. Transfer it mixie jar and grind it to smooth.

    Temper it with tempering ingredients. Serve it with hot idly or dosa as your wish. IMG_20170704_223146_01
