Chicken curry with almonds, is usual chicken curry instead of coconut, i tried it with almonds and onion tomato paste. Taste was great. It will go with white rice, pulao and roti, chapatti. Soak almonds in hot water for 2 hours, peel off the skin. Make it paste with poppy seeds. Add it with chicken curry. Here you go… rich and tasty chicken curry. Serves : 4-5 Soaking Time : 2 hours
Prep Time : 15 mins Cooking Time : 30 mins
Ingredients:
Chicken : 1/2 kg with bones
Onion : 1 small size chopped
Tomato : 1 large chopped
Ginger Garlic paste : 2 tsp
Chilly powder : 1 tsp
Coriander Powder : 2 tsp
Cumin Powder : 1 tsp
Garam Masala : 2 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1 tsp
Salt to taste
To Temper:
Oil : 3 tbsp
Fennel Seeds : 1 tsp
Cinnamon : 1 inch
Cardamon : 3
To Grind 1:
Shallots : 5
Tomato : 1 large
To Grind 2:
Almonds : 20 – 25 (Soak it for 2 hours in hot water)
Poppy seeds : 1 tsp
Method:
- Clean and wash chicken, set aside. Heat oil in a pan, temper with tempering ingredients. Saute onion for 3 mins, then ginger garlic paste and add in tomato. Cook till mushy. Then add in all spice powders with required salt. Cook it for 2 more mins.
2. Now add it shallots and tomato puree. Cook it till raw smell leaves. Take soaked almonds, peel off the skin. Grind it with poppy seeds. Set aside.
3. Then add in almond and poppy seed paste. Add cleaned chicken in the curry. Toss it well to coat with masala. Add in required water. check the consistency of the curry. Cover and cook till chicken to soft.
Tada. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve it with any rice, roti or with pulao. I served it with coconut milk pulao.
