Prawn Masala is a simple and quick side dish recipe. Made with prawns and basic Indian spices, this side dish recipe is best served with white rice. Me and my sister will fight for a pan once prawn masala all done. Because we love the masala left in a pan, yes mix some white rice in last left over masala in a pan. Chance less, if mom mix rice with masala and make a balls, she will give that balls in our hands. No words to say, Moms love, fighting with sister and prawn masala. My tongue started drooling. Oops, sorry. Ok lets see how to make prawn masala.
Serves : 2-3
Prep Time : 10 mins Cooking Time : 30 mins
Ingredients:
Prawns : 350 gms
Onion : 1 medium chopped
Tomato : 1 large chopped
Ginger Garlic Paste : 2 tsp
Red chilly powder : 1 tsp
Coriander Powder : 2 tsp
Pepper Powder : 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder : 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves : few
Sesame Oil : 2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds : 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Method:
- Clean, wash and devin the prawns. Drain water thoroughly and set aside. Heat oil in a pan, splutter with mustard seeds. Add onion, curry leaves fry till golden brown and add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute. Add in chopped tomato.
2. Cook it till mushy. Now add in red chilly, coriander, pepper and turmeric powders. Saute it well for 2 mins. Add the cleaned prawns and Stir fry until the prawns are curled.
3. Cover and cook for 5 minutes in low medium heat. (no need to add water, water from prawns is enough) Once the masala thickens, drizzle few drops of oil to the sides and fry for few more minutes. Stir once in a while to ensure the masala doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
Delicious Prawn Masala is ready. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve it with rice.
