This is very simple kootu. If u dont have potato, skip and cook as below. I love this kootu very much. Because usually we will have papad with rice, but this is in a form of kootu. My mom used to do this kootu. Most properly try to use small size appalam, for this kootu. You can use big size appalam also, but it will taste good. It will go perfect with kara kuzhumbu, rasam with white rice.

Prep Time : 10 mins      Cooking Time : 20 mins

Ingredients:

Channa Dal : 1/2 cup

Potato : 2 chopped

Onion : 1/2 chopped

Tomato : 1 large chopped

Sambar powder : 1 tsp

Turmeric powder : 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste

To Temper:

Oil : 2 tsp

Mustard  Seed : 1 tsp

Curry leaves : few

Method:

  1. Chop all veggies. Take all ingredients in a pressure cooker except salt. Pressure cook it for 2 whistles.

2. In mean time deep fry papad in a oil, break each papad in to half. Once pressure released in cooker, mix this fried papad and salt to this kootu. Allow it to boil for 5 mins. Add in tempering ingredients.
