This is simple side for dosa. Put all ingredients together, pressure cook it. I love this sambar with dosa. For kaldosa or set dosa,this sambar will go very nicely, not a crispy one. When ever i do this sambar, i will think of my mom. That much i love this recipe. So here i like to share this channa dal sambar in this link.

Serves : 3

Prep time : 5 mins     Cooking Time 15 mins

Ingredients:

Channa dal : 1/2 cup/ 100 gms

Onion : 1 chopped

Tomato : 1 chopped

Green chilly : 1

Garlic : 6

Turmeric powder : 1 tsp

Sambar powder : 2 tsp

Salt to taste

Water as needed

For Tempering:

Oil : 3 tsp

Mustard Seeds : 1 tsp

Curry leaves : a spring

Method:

  1. Take washed channa dal in a pressure cooker,add roughly chopped onion, tomato, green chilly,garlic and sambar powder, salt and required water to cook.

    2. Pressure cook in for 15 mins on medium heat, once air released, drain water from cooked channa dal. Then press it ladle, not very finely, able to find some channa dal. 20170109_200128

    3. Add cooked water to sambar, heat oil in a kadai. Start tempering and add it to sambar. Stir it well, giver a nice boil for 5 mins on stove. Ready to serve with dosa.
