This thakkali kuzhumbu is my MIL’s recipe. Already i said in one of my link, she is an expert in veg and snacks recipes. She knows that i love tomato kind of food. One day she prepared this kuzhumbu for lunch. When i tasted this, it was really awesome. She normally prefer using coconut, but this kuzhumbu with no coconut. And very simple to cook also. Ok, lets have a look on this thakkali kuzhumbu.

Serves : 4

Prep Time: 10 mins      Cooking Time 15 mins

Ingredients:

Tomato : 3 Large

Onion : 1/2 chopped

Turmeric powder : 1 tsp

Red chilly powder : 1 tsp

Cooked Moong dal : 1/4 cup

Mustard Seeds : 1 tsp

Oil : 3 tsp

Salt to taste

Method:

  1. First cook tomato in water for 10 mins. And in other side pressure cook the moong dal. Once tomato cool’s down, peel of the skin and press in a hand, make mushy, set a side.20161231_123646

2. Heat sauce pan, take oil, add mustard seeds. Cracked add onions, saute it for 5 mins on medium heat. Now add cooked tomato, red chilly powder, salt, turmeric powder in to it. Mix well, cover and cook for 3 mins.

3. Then add cooked moong dal and a cup of water, give a nice boil for 5 mins.  Done. Serve it with white rice, idly, dosa, chapati with anything it will go. Enjoy.
