Fresh fish rapidly deteriorates unless some way can be found to preserve it. Karuvadu is dried fish, prepared by sun drying it for several days. This procedure is traditionally seen in coast of Tamil Nadu in India. Lot people have different recipe on making dry fish. Here we are going to see simple karuvadu thokku.
Serves : 2
Prep Time : 5 mins cooking Time : 10 mins
Dry Fish : 8 pieces (Any variety)
Red chilly powder : 1 tsp
Coriander powder : 2 tsp
Salt (optional) as needed
onion : 1/2 Chopped
Green chilly : 1
Curry leaves : one string
- Soak dry fish in hot water for 10mins and wash it cleanly.
- In a pan heat oil, add onion, green chilly, curry leaves saute it to golden brown.
3. Then add dry fish with red chilly, coriander powder, salt (optional). Add water, mix well. Cover with lid, cook till dry fish to smooth and water dissolves. Karuvadu thokku ready.
