Tomatoes are also an excellent source vitamin C, biotin, molybdenum and vitamin K. They are also a very good source of copper, potassium, manganese, dietary fiber, vitamin A (in the form of beta-carotene), vitamin B6, folate, niacin, vitamin E and phosphorus. So Here we are going to see tomatoes cooked with dal (lentils) with added spices.

Ingredients:
Toor Dal : 100gm
Tomato : 3 medium size
Turmeric powder : 1tsp
For Tempering:
Oil/Ghee : 3 tsp
Mustard seed : 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds : 1tsp
Methi seed : 1/4 tsp
Red Chilly powder : 1 tsp
Coriander Powder : 2 tsp
Garam Masala : 1 tsp (optional)
Dry Red chilly : 1 no
Hing : 1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves : 10
Salt to taste
Method:
- First wash a dal with running water, add required amount of water. Then add chopped tomatoes and tumeric in pressure cooker. Cook for 3 whistles. Dal and tomatoes have to cook nicely as in pic.
- Then press a dal with ladle or spoon. Then in a pan, take oil/ghee. Once it heated add tempering ingredients one by one. After adding red chilly, coriander powder just fry it for 2 mins.
3. Add this tempered agents to a dal, add a salt and allow in to boil for 5 mins on a medium heat. Then serve with white rice with any sides or with appalam.
