This tomato rasam is easy to cook. U no need to add any dals/lentils and tamarind in this rasam. This is simple rasam, using cooked tomatoes. Tomato rasam is a lip-smacking liquid food which can be consumed as a drink and or with hot rice. This rasam is my all time favourite and easy to cook also. Ok lets start with cooking the tomato rasam.

Serves : 3-4

Prep Time 5 mins      Cooking Time : 10 mins

Ingredients:

Tomato : 3 Medium size

Turmeric powder : 1 tsp

Rasam powder : 2 tsp

Garlic Crushed : 2

Salt to taste

Curry leaves : 10

Coriander leaves a handful

For Tempering:

Oil : 2tsp

Mustard seed : 1 tsp

Hing : a pinch

Dry red chilly : 1

Method:

  1. First wash the tomatoes and take it to a sauce pan. Add water and cook for 5 mins. Once it cools down, peel of the skin as in pic below.

img-20161222-wa00052. Then mash it in your hand and add water, rasam powder, crushed garlic, turmeric powder, curry leaves and salt. img-20161222-wa00093. Give a nice boil till tomato raw smell leaves and temper with mustard seed, hing, oil, and dry red chilly. Switch off the heat and garnish with coriander leaves.
